New Haven Football Officials
If one needed to accurately describe, Ralph Zingarella, that word would be “doer.” If he is nothing else, Zingarella is a person who gets things done – always with a bright and cheerful demeanor. A native of New Haven’s Wooster Street neighborhood, he is a graduate of North Haven High School and Southern Connecticut State University, where he earned a B.S. degree in history in 1971. Ralph retired from the faculty at Cheshire High School after teaching social studies for 34 years and serving as the Department Chair from 2004 through 2014. Retirement hasn’t slowed this high energy dynamo as he is actively involved in numerous community service projects, regularly attends a 5 AM spinning class, assists with day care duties for his grandchildren, and, he and his wife Cindy enjoy vacations exploring the world’s greatest waterways. A member of the Vincent J. Reilly-New Haven Football Officials Association since 1983, Ralph currently serves as the Assistant Commissioner. He also has officiated basketball since 1974 accepting assignments from the IABBO Board 10. He is also an active member of the Softball Umpires of New Haven and is a Connecticut high school lacrosse official. He also capably wore the white hat and worked numerous contests at the DII and DIII levels for the Connecticut Chapter Eastern Association of Intercollegiate Football Officials. Ralph has been married to his wife Cynthia for 44 years, and the couple has two daughters, Andrea (Bill) and Dayna (Peter), and three wonderful grandchildren Zachary, Sophia and Jake.
